Review: Illamasqua Glamore Nail Polish - Shattered Star Textures

Hey all!

I have the the gorgeous Shattered Star nail polishes from the recent Glamore collection for you today! The collection consisted of 3 lipsticks and 3 polishes. They are Trilliant, Fire Rose and Marquise and are Illamasqua's first textured nail polishes. They got the name right with Shattered Star as these polishes have so much sparkle to them it's like they bottled fallen stars!

If you don't know what textured nail polish is, it is a polish the intentionally dries with a rough texture and is designed to be worn without top coat. Due to the nature of textures, they dry very fast so they are perfect for when you may be in a hurry, or don't have a lot of time to do your nails.

For the sake of not repeating myself, all polishes took 2 coats to be opaque, and took 2 coats of thin Poshe top coat to smooth out. You could get away with 1 coat of top coat if you used a thicker one like Seche Vite.

First up is Trilliant, a pretty beige/champagne. I was surprised with how nice this looked on me, I thought it was going to look dirty but it has an elegance to it, the colour of my natural nails, but better and far more sparkly! A good choice if you want to have a neutral colour but need some sparkle.

Next is Fire Rose, a lovely musky rose pink. Again, while I am not a fan of pink, it looks amazing with my skin tone, always has, maybe that's why I don't like it, I'm rebelling against the fact it looks good. Who knows! But I digress, this one becomes very vibrant when top coat is applied. Very pretty and very girly.

And lastly my favourite, Marquise, a gorgeous tangerine with gold shimmer. Oh, my, god, can we talk about the colour of this polish? It's incredible! I was hesitant as I didn't know if it would look nice as orange seems to be a tricky colour to wear, but I can see this working on a lot of skin tones. This one is slightly different to the others in that it doesn't have the chunky silver glitter. It is comparable to OPI Jinx and Zoya Detiny, but they are not dupes.

If you feel that you've seen similar polishes before, that's because they are the same formula as the Pretty Serious textures I posted a while back. I have reliable sources that tell me their polishes are both made in the same factory in Queensland, so that explains why the formula and physical make up of the polishes are the same.

All in all I love these polishes, while the colour of Marquise and Trilliant aren't completely unique, Fire Rose is which is nice. Lucy's Stash has a lovely comparison in with her review. I'm a littttttle disappointed that Illamasqua has jumped on the trend of texture polishes, but when they are this pretty I can forgive them.

Illamasqua Shattered Star polish can be purchased from any of their counters in Australia, or directly from Myer online.
