Review: Illamasqua Glamore Nail Polish - Shattered Star Textures

Hey all!

I have the the gorgeous Shattered Star nail polishes from the recent Glamore collection for you today! The collection consisted of 3 lipsticks and 3 polishes. They are Trilliant, Fire Rose and Marquise and are Illamasqua's first textured nail polishes. They got the name right with Shattered Star as these polishes have so much sparkle to them it's like they bottled fallen stars!

If you don't know what textured nail polish is, it is a polish the intentionally dries with a rough texture and is designed to be worn without top coat. Due to the nature of textures, they dry very fast so they are perfect for when you may be in a hurry, or don't have a lot of time to do your nails.

Illamasqua Shattered Star nail polish Glamore Collection Trillaint Fire Rose Marquise

For the sake of not repeating myself, all polishes took 2 coats to be opaque, and took 2 coats of thin Poshe top coat to smooth out. You could get away with 1 coat of top coat if you used a thicker one like Seche Vite.

First up is Trilliant, a pretty beige/champagne. I was surprised with how nice this looked on me, I thought it was going to look dirty but it has an elegance to it, the colour of my natural nails, but better and far more sparkly! A good choice if you want to have a neutral colour but need some sparkle.

Next is Fire Rose, a lovely musky rose pink. Again, while I am not a fan of pink, it looks amazing with my skin tone, always has, maybe that's why I don't like it, I'm rebelling against the fact it looks good. Who knows! But I digress, this one becomes very vibrant when top coat is applied. Very pretty and very girly.

And lastly my favourite, Marquise, a gorgeous tangerine with gold shimmer. Oh, my, god, can we talk about the colour of this polish? It's incredible! I was hesitant as I didn't know if it would look nice as orange seems to be a tricky colour to wear, but I can see this working on a lot of skin tones. This one is slightly different to the others in that it doesn't have the chunky silver glitter. It is comparable to OPI Jinx and Zoya Detiny, but they are not dupes.

If you feel that you've seen similar polishes before, that's because they are the same formula as the Pretty Serious textures I posted a while back. I have reliable sources that tell me their polishes are both made in the same factory in Queensland, so that explains why the formula and physical make up of the polishes are the same.

All in all I love these polishes, while the colour of Marquise and Trilliant aren't completely unique, Fire Rose is which is nice. Lucy's Stash has a lovely comparison in with her review. I'm a littttttle disappointed that Illamasqua has jumped on the trend of texture polishes, but when they are this pretty I can forgive them.

Illamasqua Shattered Star polish can be purchased from any of their counters in Australia, or directly from Myer online.

Pretty Serious Cosmetics Bloody Bride

Hey all!

I have a bit of a special polish to show you today. Bloody Bride was a part of the special box set Till Death Do Us Party, made by Pretty Serious for the wedding of Ben and Kaz, the creators of the brand.

This particular polish was what Kaz wore on her nails for her wedding! The polishes in the box set where originally only made to be presents for those attending the wedding, so it was a lovely surprise when they where made for sale to the public.

Bloody Bride is a beautiful deep blood red jelly polish packed with crimson and purple glitter with some holographic sparkle. It was quite thick so only needed 2 coats, finished off with 1 coat Poshe top coat.

The polishes are still available in the set or individually through the Pretty Serious website! Be sure to follow them on Facebook.

What's In-die Box October 2013 - Little Box of Horrors

Hey all,

I know this is stupidly late, but what the hell haha at least I'm not spoiling the box for anyone :P

What's In-die Box is an Aussie Indie collaboration subscription box started up in June 2013 by a few of the Aussie brands as a way of making and selling all new release polish around a monthly theme! Some of them may even be exclusives or limited editions, so there is no way of doubling up and getting something you already own! You get 5 Aussie Indie polishes for $47.99 + postage and yes it is available internationally!

Octobers box was aptly named The Little Box of Horrors for Halloween and I knew I needed to order it! This months box included polishes made by Lilypad Lacquer, Miss Ashleigh, Arcane Lacquer, Peita's Polish and Glam Polish.

First up, Glam Polish Corpse Bride, a white crelly filled with silver, blue and black hex glitter with some pink skull and crossbone glitter. I did 2 coats over 1 coat Sally Hansen White On, with 1 layer of top coat.

Next is Arcane Lacquer Allhallows Eve. A black jelly with multi coloured glitter. This one needs undies so photos are 2 coats over 1 coat Ulta3 Black Satin with top coat.

Peita's Polish Monster Mash is a clear based glitter topper filled with orange, purple and black glitter with black stars and a holo glitter shimmer. Unfortunately I didn't get any stars in my swatch as I didn't know they where in there until I looked at my macro shot on the computer! Sneaky buggers. Photos show 1 coat over 2 coats Revlon Royal with top coat.

My first Miss Ashleigh Where My Witches At?. A deep purple jelly filled with way to many different glitters to try and mention. This one took 3 coats to reach opacity, but boy is it worth it, so squishy!

Lilypad Lacquer What's In-die Box Queen of Halloween swatch

And lastly Lilypad Lacquer Queen of Halloween. A lovely red toned purple holo. The holo looks quite strong in the bottle but unfortunately not so much on the nail, not really a bad thing as the base colour is so lovely. Reminds me a touch of OPI DS Extravagance. This was a 1 coater, amazing!

Overall, I quite liked this box and it was a special treat as I normally don't like buying polish I do not know what it looks like. I may repurchace one again in the future if there is another theme that catches my interest.

If you want to get in on the fun, go over to the What's In-die Box facebook page to stay updated!

Illamasqua Radium and Force

Hey all!

Got a couple of Illamasqua swatches here for you. My counter finally got Radium back in stock and also had a tonne of shades on sale late last year so I picked a bunch of them and Force was one of the ones I got!

Radium is a lovely Acidic green with shimmer that was from the Toxic Nature collection. I wore this under my photos of Illamasqua Swarm. Photos show 2 coats Radium with top coat.

Review: KKCenterHK Flase Lashes

Hey all!

Something a bit different, I have a lash review for you! It's been a while since I have posted makeup on here which is a shame because I like doing the posts.

Before I get started on the review of the actual lashes I do have to comment on the state the package when it arrived to me. The whole bag was crushed and to my horror, not even sealed with tape, only a small piece of string was keeping the contents inside!

KKCenterHK.com false lash review

As for the product, they where wraped in a small piece of bubblewrap which really did nothing to protect them. One lot of the lashes where crushed beyond use.

KKCenterHK.com false lash review

Now onto the actual lashes, I was approached by KKCenterHK.com and they asked me to review 2 pairs of lashes of my choice. I chose ES 5 Pairs Handmade Black Half Luxuriant False Eyelashes [ES-A503] and ES The Bright Peacock Paper Eyelashes [ES-PAPER-3].

For the size of the lash, they don't really have a lot of flexibility along the band, even after bending it before applying it. I had to trim excess bits off the band where there where no lashes and it looked an awful lot like fishing line, so that explains the lack of flexibility. However, once on they do look quite nice and very natural, adding a nice boost to the outer corner of the eye, I just do wish the band blended a bit better.

Having never used paper lashes before these where an odd experience, but if you are an experienced lash wearer these shouldn't be to hard to apply. I did have to trim these down to fit as I have rather tiny eyes, I cut off the outer 2 'feathers' and the long piece on the inner side. You don't need a lot of glue for these as the paper softens and becomes a little fragile until the glue is dry. If you wish to reuse them when taking them off, I found it easiest to dab some eye makeup remove along the lash to soften the glue until it pulled off with no resistance.

Overall, I did like the lashes. The peacock ones are definitely more for photoshoots or a fun themed night but do require a bit more experience to apply, the half lashes are good for everyday wear as they are very comfortable and natural looking.
