Something a bit different today.. But don't worry, there will be a make up look posted this time around at the end of the post. Today I am actually gonna tell you a little bit about an awesome brand that you may of heard of, but not really experienced as they are only a couple years old, but are already making a huge mark for themselves in the beauty world. That brand is Illamasqua.
More about this brand, as well as the makeup after the jump.
Well it's no secret that I absolutely love the brand Illamasqua, ok.. am obsessed with the brand. But how can I not when everything they do is so amazing? The thing I love most is the idea behind the brand, here is a little bit about them.
"Illamasqua is the product of a heady mix of influences. Its roots stem from the dark and illicit 1920s club scene, and combine a rich heritage in the manufacture of make-up for film and theatre. It also takes inspiration from members of the ‘alternative scenes’ for whom self-expression is paramount. Alternative cultures have always dared to be dramatic. They have an emotional attachment to making up. It’s an expression of their darker side, a release for their alter ego.I personally think that this is such a great idea for a makeup brand, a brand that pushes boundaries, doesn't follow trends and promotes and supports the alternative culture and good body image. Too many times we see large corporate companies finding some way to make us feel bad so we buy their products, or use a celebrity to back their products to we want to look and emulate them. I love that Illamasqua is all about staying true to yourself and not giving a damn what anybody thinks, and I think that is something worth supporting.
Illamasqua is for the bolder person hiding inside all of us. It is an act and an attitude. A symbol of tolerance. A celebration of idiosyncrasies. A confident statement of self-ownership."

I also love that the name came from a blend of the word illusion and Talamasca which is a fictional secret society set up to watch over and keep track of the paranormal, in particular, witches, spirits, werewolves and vampires created by Anne Rice. Another totally cool thing is that Illamasqua never have and never will test on animals, and all their brushes are synthetic hair. Awesome! They also offer a special funeral service, makeup school, makeup artistry awards for all skill levels, beauty school drop-ins which is a free short makeup class hosted at their flag-ship store in Beak St, London, and supports the S.O.P.H.I.E Foundation that works to stamp out intolerance and discrimination in society.
And not to mention, they do some kick ass collections and absolutely outstanding promo images, that makes the photographer in me wet myself over and wish I was apart of.
