Yay! It's a spooky Friday the 13th here in Australia, so I've decided to celebrate it by posting a make up look as well an attempt at freehand nail art! This is a bit of a long post.. Sorry about that, and you get to see a bit of the face behind the blog.
Another picture heavy post, and as always, more after the jump!
First up the make up. This is a fairly simple idea that has been getting around makeupbee as well as tumblr for a while now, and a few weeks back I actually took some photos of my take on it. Now I seem to be very unorganised when it comes to taking photos of my makeup because I only remember once I have gotten home after wearing it for a few hours, but luckily they held up pretty well :)
My foundation is Max Factor Miracle Touch in Creamy Ivory and is set with Maybelline Loose Powder in Light. Brows are drawn on with Rimmel Eyebrow pencil in Brown/Black and then gone over with a plain black eyeshadow.
Now the fun part! I have Sugarpill's Pressed shadow in Tako on my browbone as a highlight, Sugarpill loose powder shadow in Stella all over my lid, up into my crease and along the waterline and Sugarpill Poison Plum blended over the crease and the waterline. I used a fluffy brush to gently blend it out into the white so it wasn't so harsh. Lastly I used Illamasqua Precision Ink in Abyss for the wing as well as on the inner edge, put on some black eyeliner, throw on some mascara and your done! I also put a little purple rhinestone at the end of the flick. Ta da!
And now the nails! I cant believe how well I managed to do this freehand nail art! I have been watching Robin Moses on youtube like a mad woman lately. She has some great freehand nail art videos, very easy to follow her technique. To continue along with the theme of Friday the 13th I did some bats as an accent nail and blood splatters on all the other fingers. I practiced this a few times on some spare nail tips before attempting it on my own nails.
As a base I have 2 coats of Illamasqua 'Jo'mina', 1 coat of Illamasqua 'Harsh' and 1 coat of Seche Vite to seal everything before I started. I actually took into consideration that I might screw up, so the Seche Vite was a safe guard so I wouldn't have to start from scratch in case I did. I freehanded everything using a short striping brush with a 1 coater black, did the eyes with an opal colour as I dont own a white polish and popped on some small steel balls for the eyes and sealed it all with another coat of Seche Vite.. Done! I am soooo happy with these!
Yes! I even managed to do my right hand!! It was very very difficult... this took me about 4 hours to do.. So this one will be staying on for a while haha.
Well I hope everyone has a great Friday the 13th and enjoyed this double post.
